DIET: A Manner of Living

Does Your Diet (aka "manner of living") Provide You with the Nourishment for a Healthy & Happy Life?
According to the Greek, Old English, and Latin languages, the word "diet" simply means "a manner of living". So, I encourage you to NOURISH YOUR DIET...nourish your manner of living...because everything is connected!
  • Are you eating foods that will strengthen and support your physiological systems?
  • Are you moving and doing activities that get your heart pumping and your muscles stretching?
  • Are you creating a lifestyle that includes people, places and playtime that bring you laughter and peace?
  • Are you taking time to do nothing in order to bring some inner peace and  to your day?

NOURISH: to promote the growth of / to sustain / to support . . .

Putting Nourishment Back into Your Body, Mind & Life
Nourishment includes all those things that bring greater balance, health, happiness and a smile to your face  - this is your WELLNESS diet. The EatGreen Personal Nutrition profiles and programs are aimed at PREVENTION of disease and PROMOTION of wellness.  We look at the reasons WHY symptoms exist, what's behind a certain condition - because it's not just about what's on your plate!

An Integrative Approach:
Because it's not just about what's on your plate!

Balance
If your diet is causing you illness and you do not address it, you could end up suffering for many years, spending thousands of dollars for treatments that will never work or that are just masking the symptoms…and not addressing the cause.  The era of sweeping dietary recommendations–otherwise know as fads or best guesses-has come to an end. Red wine may be better for your arteries than ice cream, but you can’t create a one-size fits all diet that is optimal for everyone.  Individuals have widely varying responses to high or low-fat diets, wine, salt, dairy, wheat, even exercise and stress. The Wellness Profile takes the guess work out of the equation, revealing your unique bio-chemical situation.

What's Causing the Imbalances?

Figure Out What's Missing!
By undergoing a personal wellness profile, you will be setting yourself up for success, achieving optimal health, absent other non‐nutritional complicating factors.
Did you know:
  • According to Michael Miller, MD, Director of Preventative Cardiology at the University Medical Center: "The endothelium is the first line in the development of atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries, so given the results of our study, it is conceivable that laughing may be important to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease."  -Misa Hopkins,,"The Root Of All Healing"
  • Studies have demonstrated the benefits of humor on health. Laughter IS the best medicine! When we laugh, we stretch the muscles in our face and body, breathe faster, and take in more oxygen. Laughing can provide an emotional release and lower stress. A good guffaw may even strengthen the immune system and increase memory and creativity.  In a  study done at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, researchers determined that: "Laughter appears to cause the tissue that forms the inner lining of blood vessels, the endothelium, to dilate or expand in order to increase blood flow."
It's Not All About the Food!
The EatGreen Nutrition Programs are Grounded in the Following Principles:
  • Biochemical Individuality – we are all unique and dietary needs vary per person and situation
  • Health is More than the Absence of Disease – Wellness requires a whole person approach, not just “band-aiding” symptoms; consider the whole person’s physiology and psychology.
  • Personal Care & Commitment – unique recommendations (your personal good EATS-Essential Action Tips and Strategies)... specific to each individual’s situation and needs
  • Empowerment and Education to create lasting changes
  • Food as Medicine - a healthy diet can prevent disease; food has healing powers in the right mix; supporting one’s physical and mental health.
  • Mind-Body Connection - it is essential to acknowledge the inter-connectedness between the health of one's physiology and one's psychology...the two (brain and gut) work in tandem and both must be addressed for optimal health.
  • The Domino Effect - imbalances should be addressed strategically and supporting one aspect (ie: digestion) often brings balance to other areas of the body!

What Others Have to Say:
When I was unable to maintain the level of exercise my body was used to, I knew I needed to adjust my diet. Vicki gave me a program to follow, which was at first difficult. But like any habit, once I got through the initial changes, I was fine. Not only did I maintain, with some exercise, I am loosing the unwanted fat. I lost a size and a half on my waist and I've been able to keep that off for over 2 years. Thanks to Vicki's encouragement and consulting, I'm healthier and feel great.   - Ben C.
Vicki has been a key part in the recovery of my daughter's emotional and physical health. She caringly helped her to become more aware of how her eating habits were affecting her energy levels and sleeping habits.   - Debbie A.
