Nutrition Therapy: Personal Wellness & Lifestyle Support

What is Nutrition Therapy?
Nutrition Therapy treats the whole person, not just the symptom. Nutrition Therapy involves the use of nutrients in whole foods to improve your body’s overall health and well-being; the use of food to maintain health and the therapeutic use of supplemental nutriceuticals to manage and support any physiological imbalances.  There are hundreds of diets out there that may work for some people but not for others.  Each of us has an individual chemistry that requires an individual diet.

A Certified Master Nutrition Therapist (MNT) is trained to assess, implement and monitor the nutritional status of an individual. A Nutrition Therapist understands that the foods that you eat today and the lifestyle that you lived yesterday have a direct correlation to the level of health and the quality of life that you will have tomorrow.
  • Through the Nutrition Profiles, the recommendations will target your ability to achieve your goals in a healthy and functional way, working to optimize metabolic processes in order to prevent or manage imbalances and dysfunction.
  • After completing a comprehensive assessment and evaluating the results based on a functional model of health, metabolic imbalances and physiological challenges that may be the aggravating causes of chronic illness and stress disorders or your general discomfort and diminished quality of life can often be discovered.
  • Once the imbalances have been identified, an integrative and supportive approach to address the challenges can be implemented.
Learn how Diet, Lifestyle and Emotions Can Create Symptoms of Disease
In this video, Dr. Hyman MD talks about the importance of understanding the underlying mechanisms and causes of diseases. The body is an integrated system and merely treating the disease is not enough. Functional Medicine seeks to treat the individual as a whole, considering not only one's biochemistry, but one's foods, thoughts and environment, too.

"Whatever your health and wellness goals may be, a targeted therapeutic program dramatically increases the success rate of any wellness program.

What's Missing?
A variety of tests are available to help identify what may be contributing to that "off" feeling and/or causing any current or future problems.
Did you know:
  • 90% of Americans are lacking key nutrients in their diet?
  • That labs create their own reference ranges by compiling data from those people getting the lab tests (ie: not-so-healthy) people? If someone's blood work falls within the laboratory reference range, it's saying they are as healthy as 95% of people that go to the doctor. With a Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis, blood work is interpreted and assessed within a functional range - the range that we aim for optimal functioning.
  • That two out of every three deaths can be traced to nutrition related causes, dietary deficiencies and overweight conditions?  Over two million premature deaths each year are due to nutrition related diseases with over 70% of premature deaths and doctors visits being diet and nutrition related.
Did you also know that:
  • Specific nutrients can modify the risk of disease. Optimal health is related to appropriate nutrient consumption and absorption: balance.
  • Everything that occurs throughout the body is a result of messages the body receives from the foods that we eat, nutrients we consume, stress in our life, activity levels and patterns of exposure to environmental and industrial toxins.
  • Chronic diseases associated with dietary deficiency and imbalances are among the leading cause of illness and death in the United States.
  • It takes 5-7 times the normal amount of nutrients to build and repair the body than it does to maintain it.
  • The body needs the correct balance of ingredients to continually rebuild itself, energize itself and maintain health.
  • The result of biochemical imbalance throughout the body often results in mood disorders, autoimmune conditions, chronic health concerns, as well as hormone imbalances and weight management issues!

What Others Have to Say:
When I was unable to maintain the level of exercise my body was used to, I knew I needed to adjust my diet. Vicki gave me a program to follow, which was at first difficult. But like any habit, once I got through the initial changes, I was fine. Not only did I maintain, with some exercise, I am loosing the unwanted fat. I lost a size and a half on my waist and I've been able to keep that off for over 2 years. Thanks to Vicki's encouragement and consulting, I'm healthier and feel great.   - Ben C.
Vicki has been a key part in the recovery of my daughter's emotional and physical health. She caringly helped her to become more aware of how her eating habits were affecting her energy levels and sleeping habits.   - Debbie A.
